I didn't know 10 gallons was too small. I'm planning on getting some assassin snails, just I just want a few fish in this tank to get in look nice only otos are the only fish I trust non to swallow the baby shrimp .. Do you accept any other fish in mind?

Sorry, but otos are the simply 100% shrimp safe fish. You may get away with guppies if you accept a lot of comprehend for the babies.

Many people here are very negative well-nigh keeping otos is annihilation smaller than a 20long, you can keep a group fine with enough algae. Species simply with inverts would be ideal. 5-seven with good algae. two-3 with some algae and 1 with brown algae

I know I'k prolly late on this but I had 5 otos in a 10 gallon with a male person betta and a clown pleco. I had plenty of plants and algae before I added them. They did bang-up for awhile. They ate and then much algae the first couple weeks their poop was direct green. Simply tragedy eventually struck and they started dropping 1 by 1. It took several months only I'm at present left with i lone survivor. I'one thousand about to get some for my 20 gallon and will be moving the loner in with them. My water was always perfect( I'grand kinda obsessed with that). Long story short, they need a good current and at least a 20g. I tried really hard to run into their needs as well as my bettas. I'1000 100% certain the tank was to minor for them, I even saw aggressive beliefs between them.

I know I'grand prolly late on this but I had v otos in a 10 gallon with a male betta and a clown pleco. I had plenty of plants and algae earlier I added them. They did not bad for awhile. They ate and so much algae the first couple weeks their poop was straight light-green. But tragedy eventually struck and they started dropping ane past 1. It took several months but I'm at present left with i lone survivor. I'm about to go some for my 20 gallon and will be moving the loner in with them. My h2o was ever perfect( I'yard kinda obsessed with that). Long story brusk, they need a good current and at least a 20g. I tried really hard to meet their needs as well as my bettas. I'thou 100% sure the tank was to small for them, I even saw aggressive behavior between them.

Having a Betta in there probably had something to practise with that.

I utilize 10 gallon tanks for Betta bowls. A xxx-long would be my minimum community tank size.

I know I'm prolly late on this but I had five otos in a 10 gallon with a male betta and a clown pleco. I had plenty of plants and algae before I added them. They did great for awhile. They ate then much algae the first couple weeks their poop was straight green. Merely tragedy eventually struck and they started dropping one by 1. It took several months but I'1000 now left with 1 lone survivor. I'thousand almost to get some for my 20 gallon and will exist moving the loner in with them. My water was always perfect( I'm kinda obsessed with that). Long story short, they need a good current and at least a 20g. I tried actually difficult to meet their needs besides every bit my bettas. I'm 100% sure the tank was to small for them, I even saw aggressive behavior between them.

The otos adopt a older tank. 6 months minimum. They are very sensitive and typically starved when you become them since they tend to be wild caught and shipped pretty far. Then don't be to upset if they don't always survive... (or and then I remember, correct me if I'chiliad incorrect) as well the stress of the betta probably didnt assist. I hateful it depends on the betta. As for the clown pleco I have heard cases of bettas pecking their optics out.

Only really it depends on the temperament of the betta. As for the clown pleco they base their diet on driftwood. Without it they won't thrive. It is vital for their diet, they don't feed ofttimes on algae unless they tin can't find anything else. Notice a safe piece of driftwood for him. I have a clown pleco alone in a 10 gallon. Ever keep an middle on ammonia. I accept an over-sized filter so its not a problem. That twenty gallon should help make stocking easier. I would put that betta in a 5 gallon tank or exit it in your ten gallon when you move all the other fish to the 20 gallon. That should bring down the stress level in the tank.

EDIT: On a sidenote I can't go a 20 gallon until I movement out. Your lucky to be able to give the clown pleco a bigger tank soon to poop in. Besides when you go migrate forest that little beautiful clown pleco will poop a ton. Since it is pretty much woods poop it will non enhance nitrate levels every bit normal pleco poo will.

EDIT: To the OP the part about the oto's is relevant to your postal service.
Sometimes you tin can learn from others mistakes so you don't have to. lol

My betta is very chill, I can't even get him to flare at himself with a mirror. He doesn't fifty-fifty give my pleco a second look, in fact they volition hide together in alittle cave. My betta doesn't similar my snail though, that's the simply time I see him flare.
I have 2 pieces of driftwood for my pleco. He prefers one over the other i, I tin can fifty-fifty his chew marks on it.
My tank was established for at least half-dozen months before I added the otos. However got the lone survivor and I feel really bad that he is by himself. I'm gonna try to get him some buddies this weekend and move him to the 20g. I'one thousand also gonna movement my ghost shrimp in there and I'k gonna get RCS for the 10g.
